Wisla Limping Up to Champions League Qualifier

Artykuł pochodzi z pisma "New Warsaw Express"

Wisla Krakow went into Wednesday night's crucial Champions League third-round qualifier against Anderlecht in Brussels deflated by the loss of further key players, but still firm in the belief that they are Poland's best chance of advancing to the group stages since Legia Warsaw in the mid-1990s.
Polish international left-back Maciej Stolarczyk was sent off during the team's second-round victory over Omonia Nicosia last week and will sit out both legs of the Anderlecht tie. Thanks to a combination of suspensions, transfers, injuries and player disputes, only five players now remain from the Wisla side that defeated Germany's Schalke 04 and ran Lazio Rome to the wire in last year's UEFA Cup. In the absence of last year's main attacking weapons Kalu Uche and winger Kamil Kosowski, Wisla will be hoping the duo of centre-midfielder Miroslaw Szymkowiak and striker Maciej Zurawski can provide the edge to break down Anderlecht defence. If the Belgians manage to close down the pair, both of whom are in excellent form, Krakow are likely to find scoring difficult.
One other piece of encouraging news was Wisla's signing on Friday of 26-year-old Lantame Ouadja, the current captain of the Togo national tea m and a seasoned international. Lantame will sit on the bench on Wednesday.
